Welcome to my blog!

Hi everyone and welcome to my first blog.  How exciting is this (well it is for me anyway!).  I’ve been meaning to do this for ages but what with an extremely hectic 2018 setting up my business time just got away from me – something I think we can all relate to.  I promised myself that I would put this right in 2019 and so here I am.

So who am I?

I’m Nic and I started my own business MarketMoore in April last year after leaving the corporate world behind me.  I have spent the last 17 years working in Further Education, at different college, managing their marketing and communications function in order to recruit students and promote and build their commercial facilities.

The opportunity came, through mergers, for me to step away and do what I’ve always dreamed of and that is running my own business and so MarketMoore was born.  Call it a midlife crisis but when you turn around and your daughter is nine and you feel like you have missed out on so much you have to treat this as a massive wake up call to ‘put your family first’.  Therefore, this was always going to be my main priority going forward and so far so good.

What you don’t find out until you in the thick of starting your own business is all the scary stuff:

  • The feeling of loneliness especially when you have been used to managing a team
  • The lack of accountability; it’s now all down to me
  • The rollercoaster ride and what a ride it is
  • It’s a bit different promoting yourself when you have always been used to promoting something else
  • You now have to become a master of accounts, sales, admin and marketing (well I’m ok with this one!) since there aren’t different departments to email anymore.

However, the positives far out way the negatives (which diminish with time and experience).  I have absolutely loved networking, meeting new people and building relationships.  I believe this is the best way to build a business.  After all, you need to be able to trust me with your brand so we need to get to know one another.  I’ve also loved coming back home to concentrating helping the businesses in North Wales and Cheshire.  It has been fantastic reconnecting with former acquaintances and I truly thank them for their continued support.

So why blogging?

I wanted to start a blog so that I can post topics that I think will help you in your business.  I’m all about sharing and working in partnership with people.  I’m a true believing in you get what you give.  I want to use my experience to provide you with top business and marketing tips so that you gain a greater understanding and don’t get stung paying out for things you don’t need.  This can crush a start up business and no matter what size your business none of us like to waste money.  We want to get into the position that you are actioning the top tips and watching your business grow! Sound good?

So here is your opportunity to get involved.

Do you have any current marketing problems?  Struggling for what to post on social media? Need to launch a new product or service but don’t know where to start?

Post your questions and concerns below and my blog will guide you in the right direction.

I’m looking forward to a great partnership!
